Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are a nutritional powerhouse, rich in omega-3s, fiber, protein, and essential minerals. They are versatile and can be used in various recipes:

  1. Chia Pudding: Mix with milk (coconut, almond, etc.) and sweeteners, let sit to thicken.
  2. Smoothies: Add to smoothies for a nutrient boost and thicker texture.
  3. Baking: Incorporate into breads, muffins, and crackers for added crunch and nutrition.
  4. Toppings: Sprinkle on yogurt, oatmeal, or salads.
  5. Hydration: Mix with water or juice to make chia fresca, a refreshing drink.
Experiment with these methods to enjoy their health benefits and versatility!

I had been putting chia seeds in my salads, but then read they really should be ground (like flax seeds) to get maximum benefit.

IOW you are likely just pooping out the whole seeds rather than digesting them if you eat them whole.

Is it the same concern when you soak them, ie make puddings?

I don't know and, frankly, am not sure about needing to grind them either. I had been searching on the topic when I learned you really need to grind flax seeds.

So, I sounded more sure of myself than I actually am in regards to chia seeds.
