Thousands, I'm sure, of dollars worth of creams and lotions and scrubs and screens and on and on. I buy the stuff with the BEST of intentions, use it twice and put it in a drawer. And then later, when the other stuff is old, I buy DIFFERENT stuff. But I never throw out any of it. A year and a half ago, I paid for people to pack this stuff, and for the boxes, and to move it to temporary storage, and it probably used up a corner of the storage place and I paid to move it from temp storage then to move it again, here.

Now it's time to move again.

And here I am, with ANCIENT exfoliating scrubs (that still work just fine and aren't made anymore) and various lotions and sunscreens and everything from the free crap lotion from the hospital to the Murad stuff that was going to fix everything to the free samples of the very expensive stuff that they give you when you get a facial.

I'm old. The next BIG birthday, I'll be 70. I could keel over at any minute. My daughter does NOT need to come here and find all this nonsense and figure out how crazy her mother was.

And almost everything is opened and therefore not suitable for donating.

Help! I need adult supervision.

70...that does seem momentous. but you are moving somewhere new! that's cool.

be thankful for everything and pay someone to throw it away from you. or whatever you need.

then? enjoy yourself, best you can. I'll get my guitar...:035:

So are you saying we might see you on a future episode of "Hoarders"??? I watch that show to get incentive and inspiration to declutter.

Mr Sheanie has found 8 jars of Noxzema around the house, and so has started gathering duplicates of grocery items as a hobby. I, in turn, do my part to irritate him back by pointing out he has T-shirts from when we met in 1977 that he never wears.

Some years ago a hairdressing friend of mine took a huge bag of opened cosmetics from a customer while I was there. She said she takes them to the Underground Railroad, which distributes them to needy participants of their program. I don't know if that's legal or permissible, but that's what she did. That was pre-HIPPA, though.

When we were packing up my mom and moving her to the last apartment she had before assisted living, my smart-ass BIL walked into the bedroom my sister and I were packing with his hands full of potato peelers. "Where's the other one?" he asked.

We stared at him.

He continued, "Well, there are only eleven, and I figure that when you have eleven of something, the original set was probably a dozen. Who has the missing potato peeler?"

And no, I seem to have specific things that I hoard. Old cosmetics and undies. I probably have 30+ pairs of those!
