So it sounds like you might find one close to the pool be of use
Self appointed greeters can be seriously annoying. I have faith in your ability to avoid her.

I’ve known compulsive huggers, too. MrSue runs like a scared little bunny rabbit when “others” (meaning non-relatives and even some relatives) move in for a hug. His hugging mechanism requires a fob AND a password…and maybe even fingerprint & facial recognition checks. He’s a STINGY hugger.

He’d be in trouble with me, I’m a hugger, just ask anyone I’ve met.

What @southernlady said about the self-appointed greeter!
It does sound like there would be more help for you (cleaning, cooking, rides) there than at the current place, which may be important, unfortunately, at this point in yours and Mr. Sue's lives. And maybe there is a choice of locations within the facility, so you could be near and/or far from various portions, as you see fit. A tough decision, as many moves are.

Might have to. I think we need to move…again.

And pay TWICE what we pay here. But I’m tired and this is simply an apartment. There’s this other place. It’s is simply a 55+ apartment. Wonderful, lush grounds…AND…
•a bit over 300 sq feet more than we have here
•someone comes in each morning and makes the bed and takes out the trash
•weekly there is more thorough housekeeping and they change bed linens and launder them. They have a DIY no-charge laundry room or someone will do our laundry for a per-load fee. (I think it’s $10.)
•breakfast, served in dining room from 7:00 - 9:30 am, is included in the price
•there is a $450 dining allowance for lunch and/or dinner. It is menu service. (Meals are priced individually and the $450 should cover 25-30 dinners…use it or lose it monthly, can’t carry extra credits to next month.)
•this means that even though there‘s a full kitchen, we’d probably only plan, shop and prepare lunch
•there IS underground parking, but they provide their own local (within 10 miles) shuttle
•there’s a pool and a spa and a ton of activities, including exercises we need. I’m not much of an activity person, but himself might be

And more on the Plus Side.

On the Minus Side…
•”rent” would amount to 80% of our gross income…crazy for rent, not as crazy for rent, utilities, breakfast and dinner, local transportation, pool, spa, exercise, housekeeping, etc.
•all that housekeeping likely means less privacy
•trek to MiniSue’s goes from 1.5 miles to 4.1 miles each way
It actually sounds good to me! Minimal cooking, cleaning and driving. Even a pool and spa! You may enjoy it more than you think.
Moving is a chore, but once you’re settled, head to the pool!
Good luck, Sue! I’ll be watching for your updates.

Pool and service sounds great, but I know use-it-or-lose-it dining dollar plans can be annoying, especially given dietary restrictions. Be wherever you think you will live your best life and be happiest for the next three years and plan to re-evaluate location then. All the best!

Two random issues~deliveries and people:

Amazon just did the same thing. Package not delivered. They sent replacements. Replacements arrived. THEN the original order arrived.

I’m not happy with Bezos, but Amazon usually delivers right away, when we can’t go out. This mess, though, said that this was all settled, no extra payment needed. ( I have a few shares of that stock and have a right to ask how they make a profit delivering everything twice but charging only once.)

Then…just down our hallway in the new building…on the route to the dining room, pool, activities, office, etc…on our side of the hall, is a couple displaced by the Altadena Fire. And the next unit. Yup…just one more unit over… contains MrMiniSue’s ex-MIL, who just moved in. I wonder how THAT will work out.
