"Barb has to trust that her husband's cardiologist will, after examining him and reviewing his history, make the best decision s/he can make to improve his health and prolong his life. And I think that even though she did ask for advice, she needs to factor in that some advice, though well-intentioned, might be WAY off base."
I couldn't agree more with your statement Sue, and expressed that very sentiment in my statements in this thread. It's her decision to make in consultation with her physicians. I merely asked her to ask very tough questions, and tried to offer her what I felt was helpful information about how the industry and the insurance companies drive treatment choices. I assure you my intentions were not to upset you or anyone else, but only to help. As for your defense of "devils in suits" I can only say I've not heard you, or really anyone, so eager to defend insurance company lackeys here before. In my broad experience in dealing with them, their mission is to deny services whenever possible, push the cheapest treatment options possible so as to maximize company profits at the expense of pt. care, and generally use every means at their disposal to game the system to their benefit. Perhaps you misread what I was saying?
