"Barb has to trust that her husband's cardiologist will, after examining him and reviewing his history, make the best decision s/he can make to improve his health and prolong his life. And I think that even though she did ask for advice, she needs to factor in that some advice, though well-intentioned, might be WAY off base."

I couldn't agree more with your statement Sue, and expressed that very sentiment in my statements in this thread. It's her decision to make in consultation with her physicians. I merely asked her to ask very tough questions, and tried to offer her what I felt was helpful information about how the industry and the insurance companies drive treatment choices. I assure you my intentions were not to upset you or anyone else, but only to help. As for your defense of "devils in suits" I can only say I've not heard you, or really anyone, so eager to defend insurance company lackeys here before. In my broad experience in dealing with them, their mission is to deny services whenever possible, push the cheapest treatment options possible so as to maximize company profits at the expense of pt. care, and generally use every means at their disposal to game the system to their benefit. Perhaps you misread what I was saying?

Will,

My comments were on your blanket comdemnation of a procedure that, so clearly, works quite well for many people, for well beyond the 2 or 4 or 5 years you mention. (And Mr.Google supports that.).

And, your blanket condemnation of "devils in suits" doesn't sound any better-informed.

Your post was your statement of "facts" about a procedure you obviously don't like...but which might do for Barb's husband (add 15 years and counting) to his life.

Yes...it looks like I misunderstood what you wrote:
Insurances don't want to pay for the better option because it costs more. It's why after 23 yrs of nursing I've grown to hate them so much. Devils in suits who care nothing for the people they're directing care for.

You were talking insurance companies and the "people they're directing care for" part sounded, to me, like the on scene dictors who were choosing which procedure to provide.

@Barb - laughing about the man that wants the sex - got to be able to do 2 flights of steps without shortness of breath and chest pain before he tackles that. :). Hugs to you and good luck with the surgeon. Sounds like you are on the right path.

First he is doing very well considering they couldn't stent or do anything for the clotted artery's/graphs that where done in 2003 (6 bypass). Two are blocked at 100% and the main at 90%. He was put on clopidogel 75mg and isosobide CR 30mg and he was released home on the evening of the 27th. Unbelievable to me how quick they get you the hell out of the hospital. They say he could live fine with the remaining artery's that are open but will need to take blood thinners the rest of his life. He is very tired and absolutely no energy. I am sure this is to be expected.

He did not want to wait for 911 and knew immediately what was happening. My son and I got him to the hospital in about 10 minutes at 1am. We took him to the nearest hospital which is a good one but not one where his PCP participates at so now I have call him and his previous surgeon to see if the are in agreement and what's next. I also have to find a good cardiologist.

If any of you very smart people have any suggestions or thoughts they would be truly appreciated.

Haven't been around to post or welcome newcomer's.

@Spiky Bugger I have read your posts and am so sorry for what you are going through. I hope all is better for you soon.

@more2adore I hope all is going good. just haven't had time to read everything or keep up.

I will be posting a new thread again because we take care of my 78 year old sister who is having some weird neurological problems. Just took her for a first appointment yesterday to a new neurologist. We had to wait 7 weeks for that appointment or I would have re-scheduled it. I have questions about her I need to ask also. I will leave that for another day.

I am just mentally and physically exhausted.

Barb
Barb I am so sorry to hear this news...sorry I haven't been here much lately (my life is freaking insane) so i just saw this.

I wish the best for you.

To everyone! ^^^^^ Thank you! All of the concern answers and prayers are greatly appreciated!

@newanatomy lol. He can fricken wait till he see's the cardiologist. He won't die by my hand or any help from me ;) until then. He is not some young buck that seems to need it twice a day. Sheesh!

@ThanksgivingGrrl I am so sorry for what your dad and family are going through but very happy to hear he is improving!

@Spiky Bugger Sorry to hear about your friend! That is so sad. Ty to Mr. Sue for his suggestion but Kim has always hated oatmeal! I think it is a consistency thing. He does love raisin oatmeal cookies so maybe I can find some made with applesauce or some half way decent healthy recipe. He hates sugar substitutes so much that he gave up drinking a 4 a day cans of pepsi to maybe 1 or 2 a week. He mostly drinks black coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day.

@Will2014 Stents at this time are out of the question but I wish he was a candidate because he is going to fight tooth and nail against open heart surgery a second time. Last time he was cut from ankle to groin for the grafts and belly button to the breast bone.

@brooklyngirl Mr. Barb is feeling a little better now. He had a bad infection from some type of lump on the back of his neck. It was black blue and ugly! It has been disgusting to keep cleaned and bandaged plus it was sore as hell and painful!
The verdict on my sister is still out and honestly will end up with a thread of it's own!

@bearmom I tried to take care but of course when it rains it pours. I have a sore scratchy throat, coughing up yucky crap, eyes swollen. A wonderful sinus and upper repertory infection. Yuck!

@southernlady I tried to re-do the title to show I was adding test results but couldn't so I will do it here.

Tests will be put back when corrected. Sorry
Added the test results to the begining of the thread!

FIFY (Fixed it for you).

Just make sure you take care of yourself in the midst of caring for everyone else.

@Barb1 I hope everything is calming down. Chaos must be in the air seems like quite a few of us lives have gotten a bit more challenging than usual.
