Hi Ruth, Hi Kay!

I'm happy to report...that per Rabkin's advice of taking my PPI twice a day and my Compazine twice a day...my nausea has subsided today! I'm getting still getting in 64oz of fluid AND I ate some chicken today...and snacked on some beef jerky! Hoping the nausea is gone for good!! My next goal?....get back on protein shakes and keep them down...that thought still nauseates me:-/
Don't worry about protein shakes for now. Just HYDRATE and nibble on whatever you can keep down.

Just got back from getting 2 liters of IV and script of Zofran and stool softener. ( nothing in 2-3 days)... Thought I was getting better!
How do all of you get the water down? Before my surgery I could just drink a whole glass of ice water with no problem and loved it. Now I can barely choke down three stips .....I'm allergic to aspartame and all the fake sugars so I'm not sure how or what to do about that ideas?
I never ever ever thought that water would be my big problem.
I'm most grateful for all of you veterans taking the time to help all of us newbies figure out how we change our lives and how to make it all okay.

Glad you got some IV fluids. Many people find that adding a tiny bit of acid and/or salt to water helps it go down better. You might also try mild ginger or mint tea (note MILD!!) or other herbal teas.

You could also add a bit of fruit juice to water, or try infusing water with stuff like cucumber, pineapple or melon.

New here but some of you know me. I had a ds in 2010 bmi was 35 & 7 comobidities. Most are gone
And life is great. Getting a tummy tuck next week. Thats about all.

Thank you for those great ideas. I'm almost to the 4 week post op date and my whole torso feels like war happened inside. Do you know about how long the pain lasts? I'm really in bed when I don't have to be somewhere. Then I'll have a couple really good hours and overdo things. This is so much harder than I thought it would be.

I never imagined that drinking water (previously my favorite drink) would be a problem post op, but it was for me too. Are you really allergic to ALL artificial sweeteners? I can't tolerate spenda/sucralose well but I'm ok with stevia and monk fruit extracts. I also use an infusion pitcher with fruits and herbs to make flavored waters and I drink unsweetened iced tea as well.

People tend to start turning the corner anywhere from 4-12 weeks. You need to stop overdoing. Pace yourself to a very slow putt-putt-putt instead of getting up as soon as you feel the slightest bit able and pushing to the limit. Stop BEFORE the limit.

However, you DO need to be up and moving around. It will help you feel better. Move slower and easier, but move.
