Hi all, I am thrilled to find a community online for WLS.

I'm new here but not new to WLS.
My first surgery was a gastric band fitted in Belgium in 2006, many years later, this year Feb 2024 and after lots of issues and huge weight gain over the 18 years I had it removed! I will do a more in depth story soon.

My Current BMI is around 64 I think.. I'd have to check, but after doing some research I have decided I would like to have a DS! I am in the UK, I'm looking at getting it done abroad.. I've literally just joined here so not looked around the forum yet, but is there a list of recommended surgeons abroad at all?

A.x

Welcome, @DSFox are you including the US in your aboard search or just Europe? I know there is a DS surgeon in Turkey, I believe there is one in Belgium. Then we have quite a few here in the states.

I know one of our founding members is a band to DS revision.

Thanks so much for your reply x

US would be too far and not cost effective, we love the states though! 😀

Yes my husband seems to have found a surgeon that keeps coming up in searches in Turkey that does DS all the time, and then one in Poland which is nearer, just thinking of how long I'd be in the air post op. If you can remember who the Band to DSer is I'd love to have a chat with them.

kind regards
A.x

@Spiky Bugger calls herself a lab band survivor.

The one in Turkey, if it’s who I am thinking of, developed the SADI 15 years ago but is very selective about which surgery he gives to individuals. Higher BMI usually get a traditional DS from him.

Hi!

I had the band for a few years. I revised to the DS 19 years ago.

I am tied up with mine and my husband’s old age issues and not as helpful here as I’d like to be.

The great thing about Europe is their rail system, you don’t actually have to fly much of anywhere. I spent two years over there and the only time I flew was when I flew over there, and flew home.
