After the ds surgery how long will I be off work??
Depends on what you do for a living. Most people need an absolute minimum of 2 weeks to get back to work...many need more. Think of it this way...you only have ONE chance to heal from this surgery...don't go TOO fast. Start with a full 6-8 depending on what Dr. Ayoola says.

Hi, Im Tiffani from Texas and yep Im about a southern as that reads. hah I had the sleeve done from Dr David Kim in Colleyville, Tx on January 2012, since then I have lost a little over 90lbs. I have no health issues. Im really active. I exercise a lot. I love Zumba, Zumba step, jogging, lfiting weights and bike riding outside. Im lovin life! I still have around 50 to loose and Im working towards that goal. Having surgery was the best thing I could have ever done for myself!

Welcome Pirate Janah and Dvan

Dvan, I hope you'll hang out here. I'm not on FB, but from what I hear the info there just isn't up to par. I'm not very tech savvy and it took me awhile to learn how to navigate this site too, but once you get the hang of it there is a lot of good info and support here. The extra effort will pay off.

I think it's pretty user friendly - ask if anything puzzles you.

meanwhile, welcome to everyone!

Hello!! My name is Kendra. Well I've been reading and studying bout the ds since January.... Reading peoples successful stories watching there youtube up loads I mean I was ready... did all my appointments yes my next appointment will be surgery guess what my insurance want pay for the ds because my bmi is not 50 or greater. But I want the ds... so I really dont know what I want to do should I call my insurance???

Hi there Kendra :). Take a look at the insurance board and see if you can find some information there. If not, try posting a new thread with your question in the title. That way the people who know stuff about insurance will see what it's about and try to respond.

Welcome Kendra! Good luck on the insurance fight. I know nothing about insurance, but there are definitely some on here that are experts.

Glad to be back from surgery and glad that you are here after transplant. Yesterday my PCP 's nurse let me know my liver results showed a fibrous liver so of course I'm sad about that.
I also am just not feeling to great, pain in tummy, sometimes gas with pain ans mostly So sore. Nothing tastes good;-( .

Hi Everyone!

My name is Vanessa Lucero. I'm from northern Ca. I had my DS 7 days ago with Dr. Rabkin in SF. So far, so good;-) I went in at 236lbs with a BMI of 44. At this moment...I'm walking and sipping and walking and sipping;-)
Hi Vanessa,
Rabkin did mine as well, I had had a previous lap bans that eroded through the wall. He fixed me up, but I'm still SO some in my entire abdomen. I also went in at 235. Down 19 lbs, but feeling cruddy. My tummy will not stop with rumbling no mater what I ear are drink, any ideas?
Glad to meet you here.

Hi! Nice to meet you!!
I'm down about 19/20 lbs myself! When was your surgery? Maybe we were in the hospital at the same time! I've got a rumbly tummy too. Dealing with trapped air flowing out as I eat or drink...it's getting better with time though. If you are feeling cruddy, chances are you aren't getting enough fluids!! We have to stay overly hydrated at all times...my go-to drink is a Venti Black Iced Tea unsweetened from Starbucks. I'm able to tolerate both Splenda and Stevia, so I make it sweet and keep adding ice to it all day/night long.

Struggling with disinterest in the food I have on hand right now. I've just about had it with yogurt, cottage cheese, soup ect. The "head hunger" for the things I can't have right now is raging and causing lots of mental frustration and anguish (which I'm told is common). I'm also having a hard time getting my protein shake down in the morning...it's the chocolate Premier Protein. It was fine at first...but now the thought of having to drink it gives me anxiety and I gag getting it down. I ordered the syntax nectars from My Bariatric Pantry (all fruity flavors...can't do desserty or creamy) and they arrived today. They are supposed to go down like water and I'm praying I find a flavor I like. These past two weeks have been rough mentally...but I keep telling myself to just keep swimming!!;-)
