Hi there,

I’ve a still somewhat newbie DSer seeking other like-anatomied people for long conversations about food, pints of water with a side of vitamins, and celebrations about bacon!

but seriously - I need DS friends who understand what I’m going through, no one in my life can relate I feel like my partner is supportive but lost when I talk gas, nutrition, and water issues.

feel free to reach out

Surgery date: June 2020
Surgeon: Ara Keshishian

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I’m so happy that this forum is somewhat active and I can ask questions With what’s going on, there’s a lack of support groups and I’ve lost that channel of potential support and feedback that I really was planning to rely on

A question for you all:

Medical Alert bracelets / jewelry

Do any of you have one or recommend getting it?
I never bothered. We can be scoped. The RNY people can't. I do think quite a few of us carry a wallet card with a picture of our altered guts on it. Again, I never bothered. Haven't needed it in 20 years so I quit thinking about stuff like that I guess.

Scoped?

I think I know what you mean, endoscope through mouth, but can you, or someone, please verify?

I put it on my emergency info on my iPhone because it asked for health information and I felt like it. But I had a CT scan of my back in October and the report showed the metal surgical thread in my bowels and the changes even though it was for my spine. So if for some reason I am incapacitated they would do a CT scan and see it there too.

That’s because they scan the same general area.

Back this summer, hubby had a CT scan of his head and abdomen for his ventricular shunt (the shunt drains excess fluid from his brain to his abdomen which meant the entire system needed scanning.

It was that scan that found his kidney stone.
