I HAD a dawn simulator thingie, which allowed individual day programming, and use of our own lamp.. by trying to use a dim-able CFL. Apparently a no-no. $160 down the drain (we've had it several years, but still.) It was the ONE thing that got us both out of bed as it slowly ramped up the light in the bedroom before 6am (too ******* early) and let us stagger around and to the coffeepot without waking in total darkness.

I use blackout curtains in the bedroom thanks to inner-city streetlamps, and white-noise sound generator (recent, irreplaceable - like the dawn sim thingie, recently deceased.) Sleep Hygiene is very important to us both. I have insomnia, where I cannot fall asleep, Todd has insomnia where he wakes at 3am and cannot fall back asleep until 20mins before the alarm rings.. it's fun. We've been actively working on this for a while. He just recently read Wired & Tired and has been implementing some self-help things to good effect.. I need to read it, and the Creating Optimism book too ;)

I am now in the market to either invest in another wake-up light, which can be had for sub $50, or a S.A.D. light/wake-up light for more.. anyone have any experience with light-boxes? I have had seasonal issues off and on for years, and am opting to try to go sans-meds this winter as they amped my anxiety too much.. I figured before I pulled the plug, I'd put it out there for some opinions!
