Plus, dogs. On the 4th we will always be at home with them because of the relentless fireworks. It's like a war zone.

I give my dog Rescue Remedy, it’s by Bach Flower Remedies. It’s a homeopathic thing, works for humans and adults. It doesn’t stop our dog from barking but it relaxes her so that she’s not constantly frantic. It also slows her reactions a bit so she’s not immediately barking.

I just hate fireworks.

I love fireworks, but my dogs don't so we usually put them in a room with a really loud tv to mask the sound. It helps.

I'm not even close to being able to eat that amount of food. It sounds like it was really good though. Hubby bought some cauliflower tot things. They were gross. I'll stick to the streak and shrimp for now. Oh and we had asparagus and mushrooms too. You are lucky you can eat ice cream. I had a McDonald's soft serve cone and literally felt like I could have died. I can still drink milk and eat dairy, but that ice cream wrecked me. I'll try again someday, but it will be a while. Plus I'm still losing initial weight and should not even be eating ice cream until I'm at my goal.

I have cast iron guts. I can eat anything. Plus, I am almost 20 years post op. I can pretty much promise you things will continue to change for quite a while. I hate the cauliflower tot things too. Blech. I would rather wait for a cheat day and have the real thing.

I can still remember the first 'normal' meal I had post op. I was on a trip by myself and I sat at the bar for dinner. It was slow and the bartender was keeping me company. Just chatting. I had ordered prime rib. The small cut not the huge one. I was just talking and without even realizing it I ate the whole piece of meat and a couple bites of broccoli. I was surprised. I had planned on eating the leftovers for breakfast. I was probably about 7 months postop.

I usually give them benedryl and a marijuana edible. But they still freak out. Even drugged. And TV. Really loud TV. And we spend the evening in bed with them. We get all the boneheads with all the fireworks they can buy, plus all the noise from all the big shows at the casinos. Last year was sort of quiet because they cancelled all the big displays because of the pandemic. I am sure this year will be twice as noisy as usual!

Hair today! Gone tomorrow? Keep your fingers crossed for me.

My hair got lousy in my 20's. And over the years it just got lousier. And now that I am also old, the old bald look was not doing me any favors. It was getting worse and worse. It was bad enough that I was looking at wigs and 'toppers'. Over the years I thought I had tried everything out there at least twice. Plus I have probably read everything ever published about women losing their hair. And baldness in general. Always looking for an answer. And BTW, my sister's hair is worse than mine. Leads me to believe it is genetic but female baldness hasn't been an issue for any of my other female relatives. In my father's family, even all the men kept their hair.

About 8 weeks ago I tripped over some information about a new combo of supplements and collagen peptides people said was reversing hair loss. I researched it and determined it wouldn't hurt me so I tried it. After about 7 weeks on the program, you can no longer see my scalp. So it is a significant improvement. Jeff noticed the difference too. I am pretty sure it is not just my wishful thinking. So I figured it might be because it was getting a bit longish and I cut it. And you still can't see my scalp. It is real. I actually grew some hair.

My hair is still crappy. But I do have more of it. Can I keep it? Will it keep improving? Who knows. But I am now very motivated to keep on and see what happens. I have stopped looking at wigs. At least for now!

I’d sure like to hear about this new regiment of supplements, products! Thin hair here also! I’m very thrilled for you.

Hi Susan! Keep in my mind, my crappy hair is not DS related. My crappy hair started before the DS was even invented. And just got worse as I got older. If you decide to try this, let me know if it works for you and good luck! I got all the stuff on Amazon so not hard to find. And we already take so many pills that a few more is no big deal!

I have been aware of DHT blockers for years and have tried them. But I had never used saw palmetto as a DHT blocker before. Maybe it's magic or maybe it is the combination. Since it is Prime Day, I also bought some DHT blocker shampoo and conditioner that has saw palmetto. It arrived yesterday but I haven't used it yet. So the growth I have right now came from the protocol below. Maybe the shampoo will buy me a few more hairs. Time will tell.

Once a day.
Lysine, silica, and biotin.

Twice a day.
You want 2 servings of hydrolyzed collagen peptides every day. I do my first serving as a shake for breakfast. Usually I mix the collagen powder with Slimfast powder for more protein than just the collagen alone. I take the capsules, 3 of them, for my other serving and add them to my night time vitamins.

Saw palmetto. It is becoming more popular as a natural DHT blocker. I look for capsules with the most saw palmetto I can get. Highest possible dose. I take one AM and one PM.

I was gonna ask but Susan in Tennessee got ahead of me. Mine I know is geneti. Maternal aunt list 95% if hers, wore a wig most of the last 20 years.

Most of the front my hairline grows about 1-2 inches and then doesn’t get any longer. PITA. And since it frizzes in humidity, I’m screwed.

Mine too. So bad that I had no choice of hairstyles. But when I cut my hair, I had to cut the front hair too.
