What a moroon I can be sometimes, I just found the lounge and R&R section of this site a day or two ago and I've been coming here over 6 months..lol!

Diana, my heart goes out to you. I so hope you find Loki. I am an animal lover too, it really hurts, they are so innocent and helpless. I will be keeping that in my thought and wishes.
Rob, we have R&R set so that brand newbies to the site can't find it...but you qualified LONG ago...you have to be a member 28 days AND have 50 posts to get in.

Not really - not for days now. There was one yesterday, over a mile in a different direction, across two VERY busy streets - we followed up anyway, and gave the woman a bigger pic - she saw the same cat this morning and it clearly wasn't Loki. The woman who has had a trap set on her front porch/feral feeder station who saw him one time two weeks ago acknowledged he isn't coming to her house anymore (assuming it actually WAS Loki), so we are borrowing the trap and putting it in our courtyard - no nibbles last night.

I am coming to the conclusion that there is no point in actually looking for him anymore - I have to assume that either someone has taken him in and is deliberately keeping him, or that he is dead. He MAY still be out there wandering, but I've put up all the notifications I can in a significant radius, and nobody is seeing him (if it's him) anymore. Either I take the position that I am waiting for someone to bring him to a vet or shelter and they scan him and reunite us that way, or deal with the fact that he is likely gone forever. It is three weeks today. I am heartbroken.

@DianaCox , have you investigated the possibility that a neighbor might have inadvertently locked him in their home or poolhouse? There was a story about a family recently who moved and their cat had been packaged in a box or some container for quite some time and lived. We had a neighbor once who returned from Florida to find someone's cat had been locked in their garage for months. It was skinny, but alive, and ran out.

Don't give up hope.

Yes, the flyer I posted had the PLEASE LOOK IN YOUR GARAGE AND OUTBUILDING highlighted - I'm hoping they are doing it. After three weeks, he must be starving if he's locked in somewhere ... that thought just kills me.

I am so sorry for the sadness this is causing you. My cat disappeared for the whole month I was in Turkey and for 3 weeks after that. We live in the mountains, full of coyotes and other predators, but one day I looked up in the room she shares with my other cat and there she was! I had given up hope. It happens.
If not, he is with a loving family.

The worst news - Loki was found, dead, in a neighbor's garage today. He probably died within a week of disappearing, based on my husband's assessment of his size. The neighbors left for a month around the holidays - I walked the streets and shook his treatie box, but I never heard him cry. I am desolated.

Please, when a neighbor's cat goes missing, CHECK YOUR GARAGE, OUTBUILDINGS, and UNDER YOUR HOUSE.

Diana, I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I could take away some of your pain. Please know that Loki knew how much you loved him. Try to focus your mind on memories of his wonderful life in its fullness instead of his time of passing.

Oh Diana, I am so sorry to hear this. He knew you loved him there is no doubt about that. If he heard you he would have cried.

Take good care.

I'm so sorry, Diana. I can't imagine how you are feeling, you put so much into trying to find Loki, he knew you were out there caring. I believe that love travels in the air, he knew. You have all the memories of him.
