Surgeon consult today. What ?s should I ask?

I have my first consult with my surgeon today. What are some Important questions and issues to make sure that I discuss?

Also, what is an "average" common channel length? Not too long obviously, but not to short bc of malnutrition worries.

There is more to it than just the common channel length. It's about the right balance of limb lengths.

My surgeon uses a standard 100cm common channel, but other surgeons have different practices. Some of the best vary the length based on the patient's own anatomy using what I think is referred to as the "Hess Method". The most important factor in my view, is to select a great "vetted" surgeon who is very experienced with the DS, has a solid history of positive outcomes, and very low complication rate.
