I hope everyone had a good holiday season. For most, it’s over and we are in the “bleak midwinter”. Here it snowed yesterday and super cold today. More snow on the way. For Christians, it doesn’t end until tomorrow as that’s Epiphany, or the day the Three Wise Men visited. That’s why there’s 12 days of Christmas.

Good for you. Now aren’t you glad you didn’t fret over that very, very, slight bump up a couple of weeks ago.
I'll be honest, I was getting really scared when I was the 6lb bump, but stuck it out and now I'm back to normal. Thank you! Hoping it ticks down soon as it's been about a month now. I'm trying to get out of my head because I have seen so many posts in the FB group about people losing 75+lbs by their 6th month. I know our bodies are different, but it still makes me feel a little down.🫶🏻

Each of us has our own journey. Are you taking measurements as well? Many of us learned we can’t lose weight and inches at the same time.

I have only measured my abdomen as I am not able to measure anything else myself (I require a PA for my daily tasks due to multiple disabilities) unfortunately no change in my abdomen for the past 3 weeks.

I'm going to work on increasing my water and see if that helps. I also have another iron transfusion either this month or next month.

How are your pants fitting?

Good morning!

The last time I weighed in was 12/31/24at 121.9 pounds.

I am really trying to stay off the scale and only weigh on my month anniversary of my surgery.

Weighing myself was giving me PTSD vibes.

12/31 was my 14 month post op marker.

But I am feeling pretty good. The stomach issues (diarrhea due to poor habits) have gone away.

Glad your system has stopped hating you.

If you hide the scale out of sight for the month, will it help?

Great job everyone!

Here’s my numbers:

DS 1/2/24 (just surpassed 1 year mark!), ~135cm common channel, 5’9

HW 315
SW 286 (day of surgery)

Last week 205
Today 200 (!!)

Finally broke into a new low weight after a lot of bouncing around. Taking a 2 week break from lifting may have helped a bit, maybe it allowed my body to focus on weight loss alone rather than building muscle. I did end up tracking my food for a couple days but eventually just set it down because it wasn’t feeling great for me. But I will say that it was enlightening to know that I am pretty easily getting ~150g protein in a day without too much thinking. I made a conscious effort to increase my fat intake more, so I think that’s been helping too.

Carbs are still on the high end, ~100g on a really “good” day. But I’m not going to make any extreme efforts to cut back. I’m afraid it’ll push me to seek out more carbs during weak moments or when eating out. So for now, I’m happy with where I’m at and my progress.

I need to remember that now that I’m much closer to goal, the progress isn’t nearly as linear as it was right after surgery. Posting a screenshot from my scale app to remind myself that the trend is definitely going downward even though the past couple months have felt stagnant.

Good for you. Maybe keep protein snacks handy and when the mood strikes, reach for the protein not the carb most of the time. That way, you aren’t depriving yourself, just making better choices.

Yes! Sometimes I forget about protein snacks that I like. I think I’d like to make a list of my faves and put it up on the fridge so I see it.
