Should I have my gallbladder removed prophylactically?

Good! I think that's a wise decision given that you've had problems in the past. I've never had problems with it - even when I lost 100 lbs back in the day (before my first WLS even) so I wasn't too concerned with it. I may have to pay for that later... but insurance will cover that :D What's another incision between friends, eh? ;) But seriously, I think you're doing the right thing.

My insurance would have paid for it too in the future but I would be the one sliced and diced again 6 months from now.

BTW I am not altogether confident that my issues were gallbladder. At the time I thought I was having pancreatitis as I went from a normal fasting glucose of 80, to a staggering 145 the day of the pain, to 136 the following day, and back to normal 80. I don;t think a GB attack causes spiked glucose.

Regardless, I'm getting the slimy thing out.
