Should I have my gallbladder removed prophylactically?

I'm having it removed. One less thing to worry about post-surgery.

Good! I think that's a wise decision given that you've had problems in the past. I've never had problems with it - even when I lost 100 lbs back in the day (before my first WLS even) so I wasn't too concerned with it. I may have to pay for that later... but insurance will cover that What's another incision between friends, eh? But seriously, I think you're doing the right thing.

My insurance would have paid for it too in the future but I would be the one sliced and diced again 6 months from now.

BTW I am not altogether confident that my issues were gallbladder. At the time I thought I was having pancreatitis as I went from a normal fasting glucose of 80, to a staggering 145 the day of the pain, to 136 the following day, and back to normal 80. I don;t think a GB attack causes spiked glucose.

Regardless, I'm getting the slimy thing out.

A few decades ago, on "The Phil Donahue Show," the audience was full of people who were suing (the original) NutriSystem. The program was so effective in causing significant rapid weight loss that it ALSO caused gall bladder problems.

That was WITHOUT the DS.
