I've been talking a little about this on Facebook and decided I might as well mention here: The stars have FINALLY aligned so that we can move to Montana permanently!!

My job ended June 30, and that was the last remaining tie to NJ. I've been laying the groundwork for the move while summering as usual with my sis and BIL. I'll go back to NJ over Labor Day to pack us out and get us out of our house by the end of October. Mr. EN and Zoe (the cat) will board with friends for a bit while I get us set up in MT, then within a few months I'll head back east and we'll drive out.

The only bummer is that Jack can't come :-(. So we must find him a new home. (Landlord reluctantly agreed to an elderly front-declawed cat but HELL NO to a dog. Very hard to find pet friendly rentals around here.)

Mr. EN is pretty terrified, but is coming along slowly. Hopefully we won't wind up crossing the country in horrible winter weather......

I am so glad for you. Altho I know you will miss Jack. But this is something you have really WANTED to do and I am glad for you.

Yes, packing sucks...

My issue is all the antiques I have now...whole house full! Good thing the only moving we are doing any time soon is to plop ourselves into the travel trailer and go on vacation.

Update: We're surprisingly close to packed! The house is on the market and can I say it SUCKS to have to let strangers into your home? UGH. It will be a relief to vacate the place.

It has been very, very hard to liquidate most of our stuff. Lord what an emotional rollercoaster. I've given away and thrown away almost everything that can be gotten rid of that way. Sometime this week I'll have a guy in to make an offer on the furniture. I had hoped to avoid renting a storage unit here in Jersey because they are so expensive, but Mr. EN will be using enough stuff in his temporary abode (he'll board with friends in order to keep working here until I have things more set up in MT) that it doesn't make sense to do two shipments, unless I can find a better way to work it out.

Still no new home for Jack, but I have connected with a "doodles" (poodle crosses) rescue group with a good reputation, so here's hoping. If all else fails, they will take him into foster care for us and we can continue to network for a new home.

The inlaws are still acting as if the world is coming to an end and they'll never see their darling boy again. *gag* I cannot WAIT to get permanently across the country from them.
