Hi and welcome Betsy @WVBShaw ! Congratulations on nearing the end of your diet program. I had a Duodenal Switch and would really encourage you to consider it. With the potential for inflammation problems that you mention, I think that you will probably want access to NSAIDS, which are not recommended for persons who have had a RNY. I had a Duodenal Switch and would really encourage you to do some research on it as a possible option as it has the best long term results. DSFACTS.com is a great place to read up on it. If DS is not an option for you, were you a family member I would work hard to convince you to get a VSG and not a RNY, not only for NSAIDS, for leaving pyloric valve intact so that dumping won't be an issue, no "blind" stomach, no pouch, satiety, etc. All the best with whatever procedure you choose!
