Good morning,

My name is Sabra and I'm so happy that I found this forum. I'm 51 years old and live in Vancouver, Washington.

My WLS history - all self-pay and all in Mexico
  • I had a Lapband (crap band?) back around 2000 and was only successful at vomiting, never lost more than about 25 pounds and my weight just kept going ever upwards
  • VSG in August 2021 and have almost lost 70 lbs since surgery, but have not been getting near enough protein or hydration and way too many carbs. Really regret not getting a DS to begin with, but at the time gave in to magical "restriction will be enough" thinking
  • Scheduled to convert to DS on December 26 this year - determined that the third time is going to be the charm
HW: 496 lbs
VSG SW: 433 lbs
CW: 364 lbs and recommitted to protein, carb, and hydration goals
GW: The hated BMI chart says 174 for my height (5'10") but I'd be happy as a chubby clam at 250

I will add that I have already learned so much from the vets on the Facebook DS groups, you are all angels for sharing your knowledge and experience! I can't wait until I can pay it forward and help the community

Welcome Mstery999
May I ask who your surgeon was this time around? And have you gotten your operative report to keep as you move forward. Most med professionals haven’t a clue what a DS is and having an operative report helps.

I'll be having my DS with Dr. Christian Rodriguez Lopez in Tijuana and will definitely be carefully reviewing my operative report. I know he does both SADI and DS, but I made it very clear that the DS with two anastomoses and a short CC is the only surgery I am interested in.
