With her in the LA area and the numerous fires in the area, if you have her number can you call and find out if she and her husband are safe?

Here I am. Exhausted, but mostly intact.

On Monday, a small DIY plane crashed into a backyard tree a few of miles from here. Then the wind…wow!

Yesterday evening, got a semi-hysterical call from MiniSue. She and her guy were driving through an area that was receiving “immediate evacuation” orders via cell phone alerts and was panicked that we were stuck on the third floor of a building w/elevators that might not be working. (We were fine.).

A bit later, we had that power outage. It came back on at 3:53 this morning. I had to be at our property at 8:00 and then at the VA in DTLA at 11:00…on minimal sleep. Aargh.

Mr MiniSue drove me to the DTLA VA clinic and I met with the Nurse Practitioner from the Mental Health Dept. Mr Sue is experiencing more frequent episodes of memory impairment, so I’m experiencing more frequent episodes of “depressed caregiver spouse.” It’s hard to witness. And it’s hard to deal with absent the major part of my usual support because my usual support is the guy falling apart. Old is hard.

I get a visceral feeling of how bad winds are in SoCal by watching the cam on the eagles nest in Big Bear, near LA. the winds are terrible again this morning and hope they die down soon.

Wildfires on the west coast are fairly common. But combined with the lack of water to fight them with has made this a particularly dangerous year.

Glad you are good. How about putting some well-equipped go bags together at the apartment too, just in case. Hope it stays good where you are.
