"Spend a couple of months looking at the labels on your food. There is a little bit of protein everywhere. If you eat breakfast, you might get 4g protein, but a piece of chicken for lunch may have 50g protein," said Longo, who skips lunch to control his calorie and protein intake."

A piece of chicken has 50g's???

4 grams of protein for breakfast? I don't get how anyone can eat like that - even as a pre-op that would have made me tired. I see people who eat a slice of toast and call it breakfast - I don't get that. :icon_scratch:

Teasing out the health effects of individual nutrients is notoriously difficult. The apparently harmful effects of a high-protein diet might be down to one or more other substances in meat, or driven by lifestyle factors that are more common in regular red meat eaters versus vegetarians.

yes, indeed

It seems demonizing foods is getting out of hand. Don't eat dairy, wheat or meat. Watch out for those eggs, cream and butter. Avoid soy, be on the look out for vegetables high in oxalates and those that contribute to inflammation. Coffee is good, no... it's bad... wait, it's good again!

Oh, good grief! Just wait until there is a study rebutting all that. Remember coffee bad, then coffee good?

I think I remember a chicken breast from KFC is 50 or close to it!

Oh my... Seriously what's left for us to eat? As long as I have been aware of the news I've heard these scare stories. Same story, different food. Over, and over, and over. A few years ago we were going to die from eating grilled food too. If these stories were true, quite a few of us would be very dead by now.

So for lunch, what can I have...
