Covid Vaccination?

Mom had her *** yesterday. Freezing cold & weak for 3 hours. Then perked up but very tired again later with an arm ache. If that's all there is to it she's happy & will take an NSAID next time before the appt. Pfizer. Hey, but she was 88 yesterday and we had to pick up her new car (lease expiring), so her reaction might be harsher than most.

Brother and sister-in-law each got their jabs yesterday, too. No reactions.

BTW, my cousin in Montreal said the rollout there is much worse than in the US. He's a physician and he said it's really messy. Update: the issue is Canada is buying the vaccine from Europe and breaking contracts.

my 77 year old mom with congestive heart failure, hbp and on oxygen got her Covid vaccination today!! This was quite a feat because she was VERY suspicious of any vaccination and the medical establishment period because of Tuskegee syphilis experiment and also her own experiences with the lack of medical consent and abuses that happened a lot in the past to Black people.

I'm glad she got the shot. how awful she should have these fears that are totally justified.

No. I got it wrong.

I have excuses. I’m doing severe Dry Eye and Twitching and Twitching. The drops don’t help much, so reduce caffeine (and attention span?) and reduce stress (lorazepam?) and now it’s blurry for different reasons, but I don’t care as much.

That’s how it’s supposed to work, right?

Our facility handed each of us some Tylenol upon departure.

I didn’t take it because there is acetaminophen in my oxycodone tablets, so it’s already on board.

Webmommy I'm SO glad your mom got her vaccination! I can't imagine how tough it must be to overcome the (justified, sadly) suspicions she had, but she did it and deserves a lot of credit. I hope, as more and more people are vaccinated and nothing terrible happens to them, more of the people with concerns will get on board. I admire her for her courage.

Webmommy I'm so happy your mom got BOTH vaccines. I can only imagine how wary she was (and rightly so, that suspicion is well warranted based on the horrendous history).

Similar to your son, my kids will remain in remote learning for the rest of this academic year, even though Liam will likely be vaccinated ahead of most of his peers.

Some depressing news on the Nevada front that has made me angry. We were told the vaccine and the signups would be on a county by county basis. I live in Clark county, mostly Las Vegas. I check the website a couple times a day hoping to see things moving forward. It doesn't have to be my turn but I want to see it moving. No change since 1/22. Shots only for 70+. Just yesterday, Boulder City, a small rural town in Clark County announced shots were available for 65+. What?

I would bet money risk is lower there. No gambling. No tourists. Not much industry or places to work. And it's Clark County. I don't get it. And they will only give shots to Boulder City residents. Yes, I would have driven there to get a shot! Now I am angry! I am supposed to keep on waiting because I live in the wrong part of Clark County.

I hear ya. But the J&J a one dose vaccine looks like you could get it and be done before you could get two doses of the others. I’m just saying we are sooooo close, hang in there a bit more. Cuz you are way too cute for us to do without you!

Yeah I couldn’t say RNA because she wouldn’t understand that. My explanation was close enough and the knotty gritty of the science would only confuse her. She has a doctorate in Divinity and science is not her forte at all. I know for sure the next thing she would say “This vaccine changes my DNA?!!!” Noooooooo. We can’t go down that rabbit hole!! I also explained it was like the RSV vaccine that my son got when he was a preemie to reduce his risk from getting RSV the first two winters of his life. I framed it in a way that she would understand and not appeal to her slightly paranoid but not really when they have been out to get her.

I appreciate the details though!
