It hasn't rained this much here in nearly 5 years. This is a good thing in view of our drought, but it would have been better spread out over a lot more time. And if more of it was in the form of snow in the Sierras, where it could be part of next year's filling of the reservoirs east of here, rather than running straight into the ocean through the storm drains. I'm actually a little worried about the level in the pool!

we are actually getting snow, a couple wet slushy inches so far. why are you worried, what happens if the pool is too full?

We have a temp work-around on the pool's auto-fill-thingy. It's hooked up to the irrigation system and goes on for a few minutes at a time, a few days a week. We may need to figure out how to turn it off! And maybe set up the auto-fill for real, if that storm heads this way.

The level of the pool went up about 2 inches overnight. We have about another 5 inches before overflow, but it will be above the bottom edge of the coping in 3 inches. And there is one place where the overflow could go into the window well of the basement. That would NOT be a good thing.

It rained hard all night, and the water is now within less than an inch of the bottom of the coping.
