I want these! No bacon in the house but I think I will try to make sausage bowls in the inverted muffin tin. Or maybe an upside down ramekin on a cookie sheet.

I started the order process. I was going to order a set of 4 for myself and a set of 4 for my son. By the time I got to the "review order" section it was over $100.00. I decided not to order at this time. I tried to edit the order and it would not let me choose zero. I escaped from the screen thinking because, I hadn't selected "process order" it would just end the process. It didn't. I got an e-mail a few seconds later saying thanks for your order showing what they were charging my credit card!

I called the customer service number on the e-mail I received. A recording came on telling me how I had won a trip to the Bahamas, so I have that going for me.

Bullshit! I called the bank and cancelled the card.

End of story and lesson, be sure before you enter your information.

I love the inverted muffin tin idea! I think I will stick with that!

When I see something like this that sounds useful, I wait til it's been around awhile and buy it locally. Bed, Bath and Beyond sells a lot of "as seen on TV" products, some drug stores do as well. I do this because some of these TV ads misuse your credit card info once they get their mits on it, sending you additional stuff you never ordered, and they you have to cancel orders and send stuff back, etc etc. Sorry this type of thing happened to you, Newanatomy!

So I like the concept but I'll wait, in the meantime, can someone explain to the slow learner in the cooking class (that's me!) how the inverted ramekins method works? I have ramekins. I have a cookie sheet. I'm willing to learn.

@Larra : Put the ramekins butt end up on the cookie sheet. Form your bacon around the ramekins so that they are bowl shaped. Bake till crunchy. The End. :happydance:

Thank you both! So in other words, I create the bacon bowls first, using the ramekin as a sort of mold, then turn them upright, fill with whatever fillings, and then back or microwave?

OMG, in concept, this is art... MOMA worthy art! Should take it's place, at verrrry least, alongside chocolate covered bacon in the food porn hall of fame for DSers. O.M.G.

PS: Am editing the link, Lauren, to say it was a scam.... just so nobody casually reads the thread and thinks it's an endorsement of that company. Edit my edit as you see for please. Thx.

It's all good. I should have realized they were going to charge 100% shipping and handling charges. My hubby said that he saw these at Bed Bath and Beyond, so there we go.

I found this recipe at http://muffintinmommy.wordpress.com/2012/07/11/bacon-cups/

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cover the back of a jumbo muffin tin with foil and weave bacon strips around the backs. Be generous with the bacon — it will shrink and leave gaps in your cups. Set the pan in a cookie sheet with a rim to catch the dripping fat. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until crispy, checking occasionally for oven fires. Wait for it to cool before removing the foil and shaped bacon, then carefully transfer bacon cups to a paper towel-lined plate.

I checked the Bed Bath and Beyond website and they didn't have bacon bowls listed (did a search), so I'm surprised your husband saw them at a store. I guess they could have them in stores but not online for some reason, but is he sure? You might want to call ahead to make sure they have them.
