So often when teens let it "slip" that they are drinking, drugging, etc it is because they know they need help. Could it be that because his mom isn't doing much to help him he is letting hubby know in hopes that he will step up?
My daughter was 16 and were having some trouble with her lying, sneaking out and such then she started taking xanex that where not prescribed to her. I preached, took her car away, grounded her, did everything I could think of. Then she finally threatened suicide. I said let's go for a ride. I took her to the ER. When we pulled up she was beyond pissed. I said ok we are going to do this the easy way or the hard way. Easy way is we are going to get out and go in and let them know you want to kill yourself and see what kind of help you can get. Hard way is you refuse to get out and I go in and get the security guards let them know you have threatened to kill yourself and they will come and get you out of the car and you will be forcibly taken to the mental health hospital. It is up to you which do you want?
We got out and walked in together. She spent 10 days in facility for teens. It turned her life around. That was almost 7 years ago. She was mad at me but at the same time she was relieved. She changed her ways but she was able to safe face with her "friends" because she was forced to change by me. I think she was ready to quit acting like she was but didn't know how to.
