Yes, we're stupid - but now what? Any RVers here?

I recently bought a portable a/c (for my dad for Father's Day) from Brookstone and came across the following contraption and, though it would be my personal version of a nightmare, it might be something useful for those who are hot sleepers. (BTW, I envy you! Brrrrr!)

Oooooh, I always go to sleep cold and wake up sweaty, that would be perfect for me to put on with the remote in the middle of the night!

I was the opposite - pre-DS, I was almost always too cold. Freezing in bed - nose running and fingers and toes numb from the chill at not very extreme temps. Now, I'm more likely to be HOT - and I'm solidly post-menopausal. In particular, having even a small amount of alcohol makes me sweat. Weird, huh? In my case, perhaps my DS revved my metabolism a bit?

Regarding the air mattresses - I'm thinking a combo of two air mattresses (which can be adjusted for each side) and a foam topper might replicate the Comfortaire mattress we have on our bed at home. Thanks!

What about a gel topper? Our new mattress at home has one built-in, it adds comfort without the "heat" issues you get from foam.

this doesn't seem interesting enough for it's own thread but for anyone who is into camper porn, google camper and made in Australia or similar. can't believe the cool stuff those folks have! this is real camping, not glamping, but with what you need in real wilderness.

one example

the thing has positive pressure inside it to keep dust out, amazing!

There she is!

Charles drove her home, with me following in the car - not 100 yards from home, he hit the driver's side mirror of a FedEx truck with our passenger side mirror - just the glass is broken - anyone have any idea were you find the glass for a mirror (nothing fancy - just an elongated piece of mirror glass with a round convex mirror at the bottom.

I'm enjoying the idea that the ******* neighbors in that awful, out-of-place white McMansion across the street are probably shitting their pants thinking it is going to live where it is. They'll be calling code enforcement by Monday - which is when we take it down to the storage yard where we will be keeping it. In the meantime, I'm trying to outfit it with nice bedding, closet organizers, a cat-litter disposal system (for the TP), kitchen stuff (what to snag from our overstocked kitchen, what to buy new?), sleeping bags for the extra "beds" (they are very short) in the living area (you can sleep curled up, assuming you can sleep that way), an outdoor grill (even though it has a decent stove inside), camp chairs, some sort of DVD/new TV, something to store our 5 gal water bottle in - and about 200 more things.

And I bought a couple of these:

I am planning to take Kirmy and David for an overnight in it at the beach - I'm not sure that toasting marshmallows on an open fire is not going to end in disaster, but how can she not experience that?

Rather than buy new for the RV, buy new for the house and use current stuff in the RV as far as raided kitchen equipment.

As to your mirror, there is a parts manual sitting here so I looked it up. The company that handles mirrors and glass for RV's is K Source

We'll have the manual with us. It's put out by Route 66 RV (and our dealer is one of the locations). Camping World has a similar parts dept:

Hope you find a replacement.

WE had to have a tire fixed. Discovered one had a nail in it...took it down the street and the auto tire place fixed it for us.

Thanks - I just sent them an email!

Our bed is ready. So are the "sleeping bags" (actually, zippered blankets) and pillows for our guests (actually, for us - we will give Kirmy and David the big bed for their one night; however, when our kids come with us, they will be on the little couch/beds). We bought a camp stove at Costco, but were disappointed in it when we got it home (there were misleading pictures on the packaging that looked like much more was included in the box) - there is another version that we're going to have to go to a different Costco for (ours was out of them). I got a bunch of medium sized plastic storage boxes that fit nicely in various of the cupboards. Now, we need to stock the kitchen. I found a magnetic board with little jars for spices - but I'm not sure where to put it where it won't get in the way
