I did not read everyones posts but I have been to Oroville. Not much going on. Very depressed economy. To be fair we went to vista my Stepson who was in a alternative school in the boonies. So we did not really spend much time seeing the sites.

Do you have a short-term goal that you can meet by taking one of those jobs? Will your pay make you rich or poor in that town? (Used to be that places like the Postal Service had some jobs where the pay was linked to the local economy and some that paid the same in NY City and Sheboygan and everywhere else. THOSE we the good jobs, if you lived in the boonies.)

Will the bonus do any more than pay moving expenses?

Check demographics...places like city-data and epodunk, to see how you "fit" in those environments.

Butte and Great Falls are both interesting communities in their own right, with far better costs of living than Bozeman. Great Falls is an Air Force town (Malmstrom AFB).
While Butte is closer to where we were while there, Great Falls has some attraction. :) Been looking there too.

I lived in Big Lake. Half way between St. Cloud and Minneapolis. I agree Duluth is pretty but I couldn't live there! Carson City might be a good option!
