I was thinking about renting an RV for a few days when we are visiting a friend who:
a) lives in the middle of nowhere, so it's a longer drive than I'd like to the motel; and
b) is having chemo and probably radiation, so we may have to pick up and drive from her house to her chemo place which is an hour-and-a-half away, and where she usually has to stay overnight for two nights.

But, so far, the places that rent RVs to people who are on vacation are...you ready?...closed on weekends.

So people cannot rent on the Saturday of the week their vacation starts and return it the following weekend.

People who have a one-week Mon-Fri vacation have to rent an RV a day early and return it a day or more after their vacation ends.

That's just mean.

Nope, in fact, you look all puckered up for a kiss. But I do feel your pain. When moving our adult children this past summer, we ran into this exact problem with U-Haul. When we tried to rent trailers, nobody there. Same thing returning them, nobody there. Seems everybody does transactions on their damn phones nowadays. Our kids reserved, paid for, and rented the trailers with their I-phones. All it takes, apparently, is some thumb action. We feel really old.

Exactly...except by now, renters should have gone on strike.

Maybe we should go into business renting out @DianaCox 's RV and being open only on weekends.

Sigh. Packing up Sallie (as in "Sallie Forth!") for our last trip of the summer, and probably for quite a while. Charles is having extensive hernia surgery with abdominoplasty to fix the diastasis on 9/23. We're headed for Pismo Beach for three nights in the morning. Steaks are bought, beer, chili fixins, ice cream, veggies, sweet potatoes, Bloody Mary mix, eggs, hash browns, bacon (!), hot dogs and grillin' beans - all the faves.

Charles thinks he's going to be able to drive it to Vegas by mid-October. I'm thinking that's not happening.

But yeah - my preference is to camp during the week and leave the campgrounds to the drunken working stiffs and noisy kids on the weekends.

I love Pismo Beach! If you can, go to F. McLintocks one night for dinner, yummy and fun!

I like to say "Pismo beach" but don't know what it's like.

Sue, is this place you are talking about in Nevada? because Nevada is ODD. I have been in Carson City since Wednesday PM and this is one strange place.

but I'm moving here. whoopie!!
