I wanted a comfy, packable dress for traveling, and thought I found it.
Didn't think it looked too fancy, but at $2295.00 it must be.

Oddly, I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm actually pissed about the high price. I should just leave the page and continue my online shopping, but instead I'm parked on it and grouching about it. I'm getting to be such a crabby old fart I can't even shop online without raging about stupid things.

Altuzarra ‘Ilari’ rope closure dip dye dress ($2,295, nordstrom.com)

I'm the crabby old fart who wants the weather bimbo to know that "temperature" has four syllables and...there was another similar infraction, but my senility is interfering with my recall...lol.

You stay on that page until you're done.

ETA...Mr. Sue just reminded me that it was the blonde woman on Cook's Country...but he's senile, too and cannot recall the details.

GAAH - pushing so many buttons...
Nucular and ax you a question have always driven me nuts and let's not forget puh-sketti

And as guys sometimes say, $2,000? It damn well better include sexual favors for that price :p seriously I won't spend more than $200 for a suit or $50 for dress slacks or a shirt...

Depends on the quality of the suit...esp since suits seem to last forever and not go out of style. A good solid classic suit can last decades if well made. My daddy paid close to $1000 for suits back almost 40 years ago...and when he stopped wearing them 15 years ago, he passed them along to my dh who was the same size...when dh was medically retired and then had his DS, HE passed them along to a good friend...they STILL look new even now, 40 years later. So those suits actually cost $25 a year. GREAT investment.

Unfortunately women can't pull that off for most of our clothes...a classic black dress is about the ONLY exception.

I have found that expensive suits wear no better than cheap suits. Not to mention in this day and age, suits are rarely required. I bet I wear a suit 3 times a year now.

Well, my daddy's were made specifically for him by a tailor, nothing off the rack at all...they got his measurements and then cut the cloth.

I have suits that I paid $250 for that are 25 years old. To each their own, but for me spending more than a few hundred bucks on a suit is money wasted because I don't need a suit that often. Most business environments rarely call for a suit anymore, so I just don't wear them enough to justify spending much on them.

$250.00 in 1991 is $435.23 today.

(I do the same thing. I always "mentally calculated" how many hours/days/weeks/months/etc at work a given item was going to cost me. But I retired 16 years ago, so my comparison is to what I earned back then, not what my job would pay today.)

I know what you are saying but surprisingly I actually bought a suit last year for $175. A Stafford suit from JC Penney and it was proper length, cut and didn't require any tailoring. For an off the rack suit is surprisingly nice.

True but his did...he was in a 3 piece suit every day he worked...He was a life insurance agent (made damned good money too) and altho he could have retired at 65, he didn't retire til 72/73? His also had to be very "classic" kinda like the little black dress that was a given at one point.
