Out of network travel and lodging costs??

hi all,

Because the DS is only performed in a handful of locations, many of us have to travel. Has anyone been able to get the travel (flight) and lodging (hotel) covered by your health insurance when they have authorized you to go out of network since there are no providers in network? how have you appealed the decision? any info would be appreciated. thanks so much

My husband did but it had to be out of pocket up front and then submitted for reimbursement. We got the funds from the insurance company about 8-10 weeks later.

Read YOUR policy. The full thing. Do not depend on someone from the insurance company OR your employer to help.
