When this happened to my mother, I FREAKED THE HELL OUT. Her doctor refused to operate on a ******* BOWEL OBSTRUCTION?? I went apeshit, and pulled all the strings I had with Elariny (my mom lives in NoVA and was at Fairfax INOVA Hospital). I got his chief resident assigned to her case over her regular doctor, and she called me at least once and sometimes twice a day, and reassured me that decompression and resting the bowel could clear it up - which is a good thing, because my elderly, diabetic, hypertensive, lymphedemic, CHF at that time 81 year old morbidly obese mother was not exactly a good surgery risk. I was scared to death - but she went home in about a week. And she's 82 now.
