My mom just called from Oregon and my dad was admitted early this morning for another bowel obstruction. The last one he had was resolved with the NG tube therapy (whatever they call it) I hope to God this one is too. I guess I will line up a pet sitter in case I need to fly up there.

Swing some critters, pray, whatever, he needs it at his age.

My mom had the same thing a couple of years ago - no surgery required, just NG tube to suck out the crap and let the intestines calm down. I hope this is the same thing.

My mom talked to the surgeon and they are going to watch and wait at this point. If it doesn't clear in around 5 days then they will have to do surgery. My dad is 82 and is VERY difficult to wake up from surgery. I think they have to give him Narcanan (sp) to get him to come around. Hopefully the obstruction will clear on it's own.

My dad was released from the hospital this evening. The obstruction resolved itself. I am so glad!! I just got finished chewing him out over the phone. Man, I wish their house would sell so they could move down here. My mom needs help with him or at least a break. Hopefully soon.
