Here is my daddy's obituary: http://www.mcfarlandfuneralchapel.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=2525671&fh_id=10693
Pronounced Willis but is the Old English spelling. We are descendants of Gov. George Wyllys (4th gov of CT). Daddy always said if the name was spelled with two Y's, you could bet your bottom dollar we were related.Thank you for sharing it with us, Liz. I have never seen your daddy's first name before. Is it pronounced Willis, or differently?
Unfortunately no boys followed him. He had all girls. His youngest Caroline, does carry the name Wyllys as her middle name but that is as close as we got.He has a very regal sounding name, is anyone named after him?
I do that too, EN, LOL. I'll look at one thing and off I go.I had a lovely time following rabbit trails through the Interwebz last night . Gov. Wyllys came from a gorgeous part of England, which in turn led me to look at lots of pics, which led to an adorable pub menu in his hometown, which led to looking for recipes.....
And TWO great ganddaughters, 2 granddaughters by marriage (mine) and 2 great grandsons from my stepdaughters.Peaceful wishes of comfort to you this morning, Liz. Five daughters and three granddaughters is quite a legacy!
