Anybody Know About Bellevue WA?

I'm scheduled to go to Bellevue for a convention from June 27th through July 2nd. Mr. K9 is driving me crazy. He thinks it's dangerous. Like riots in the streets and complete anarchy. My Google search does not result in any such dangers. Additionally, I'm having some issues from my hip fracture last year. I've arranged to rent a mobility scooter and am fully prepared to get assistance from United Airlines, the hotel, and I'm packing as light as I can. I'm limiting myself to one suitcase and a small carry-on.

If anyone has personal experience or knows of a reliable website to assess and publish statistics or other helpful information, I WOULD BE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL. If I leave the hotel, I won't go out alone. Considering I'm limited with the scooter, I'm not planning on going to the space needle and other tourist attractions. Maybe restaurants a block or two from the hotel. (Hyatt Regency in Bellevue)

I appreciate that he has cares and concerns, but I'm feeling a bit smothered. This is not out of character for him. When we first moved to TN, I traveled for my job. I was younger and able to navigate around without problems. Yet he still was a bit overprotective, but it's like he's overprotective on steroids.

I used to hang out on citydata forums and still sometimes go there: from this I can tell you than anywhere that is considered "liberal" - like Portland, like Bellevue - is overrun with right-wingers (paid? trolls? legit? I don't know) telling you how TERRIBLE it is.

for some reason.

I expect you would find it is perfectly fine.

Not an expert on that area, but I'm sure it is as fine as any other US city or small town, with some parts rougher than others and with outsiders needing to keep wits about themselves... Hope you have a fun trip!

that is what I am guessing - is it a large convention? can you hook up with others there for the same thing?

I hope you can enjoy your trip!

Bellevue is absolutely fine! I’m from WA state and I’d prefer Bellevue over any other major city in WA. Is the convention at the meydenbauer center? If so it’s huge but also very nice and well taken care of and organized. I’ve also stayed at the Hyatt as well and it’s very nice! Bellevue is like the tech area is how I view it and restaurants are great, a bit pricy but delicious! You will have a great time!

Well, the convention went fine. It was at the Hyatt. I did a bit of shopping around the hotel as well as finding some nice restaurants. I had a credit with United from a cancelled trip. I used it plus an extra $500.00 to upgrade my flights to First Class. No direct flights from Nashville (TN). It was a pain in the butt with delayed flights and other glitches. Despite all the glitches, I had a nice time with friends and convention business. Sadly, it wasn't without a major complication getting back to TN. I was stuck in Chicago for more than five hours after the scheduled departure. Somewhere amongst the WA airport, Chicago, and Nashville I caught Covid. I was fully vaccinated, and God knows what strain I had, but it wasn't too bad. Of course I shared this "souvenir" with my husband.

This year I'll be attending the same kind of convention in Denver. It's a direct flight, hooray! It's at the Hyatt at the Denver Tech Center, boo. There is one restaurant in the hotel and a little coffee/snacks store. I moved from Denver in 1997 so I'm familiar with the Tech Center. It isn't ideal for eating, which totally sucks, but Denver has a decent light railway system. I'm hoping we can figure out how to use it to get to a more visitor friendly area for meals. I absolutely don't want to rent a car. The Tech Center is off I-25. I didn't like driving it when I lived there, and God only knows how much more complicated driving would be today. (We went to Denver in 2019 and was totally confused most of the time. Very little looked familiar. The rental had GPS which we figured out how to use it the last day we had it. I'm extremely grateful for the Waze app.)

I was so confused: how could you be back already? oh, that was 2023, duh!

I hope you have a good time in Colorado this year!
It happens to me far too often. I don't know how many times I've wondered why something didn't
make sense. And yet I still don't notice a date. I just think I must be losing my marbles.

At least for now I'm cognizant enough to laugh at myself.
