High triglycerides are usually caused by other conditions, such as:

• Obesity.
• Poorly controlled diabetes.
• An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism).
• Kidney disease.
• Regularly eating more calories than you burn.
• Drinking a lot of alcohol.

Certain medicines may also raise triglycerides. These medicines include:

• Tamoxifen.
• Steroids.
• Beta-blockers.
• Diuretics.
• Estrogen.
• Birth control pills.

Not obese (almost underweight)
Don't drink alcohol except the occasional social drink (maybe 1 drink twice/month)
Never had diabetes
Don't take any medications except all my vites and Prozac and did not take it during the 24 hours before draw.

It's happened to me as well. A few years ago when I was many years out from the DS; they were up. We waited and saw they went back to normal. Not saying yours are just a blip, but mine were.

Triglycerides go up and down easier than the other cholesterol readings. Sugar intake affects the reading too. Don't even worry about this. Just take note the next time you get labs done and see how they are trending.

How is your thyroid?

Good question. TSH was not drawn on this lab set. It's always been normal before. Is there any other test that might indicate something going on there?
