Good luck Jackie! My husband lived for almost 2 weeks like that when he got down to SC ahead of me AND the movers to start work. I felt bad for him so I amazon primed him a camping chair ;)

that was sweet of you ..it's OK at this end but next week I'll be working and ...oh, who cares. it's pretty small potatoes.

you are a good spouse!

Just take the unpacking one day at a time, and unpack one box COMPLETELY before opening the next so you don't end up with 49 half unpacked boxes. I speak from personal experience on that one ;)

When we moved from So Cal, I had a mattress and splurged on two green resin chairs...one for my butt and one for my feet.

I ate my one hot meal, lunch, at the senior center.

Glad THAT finally ended.

Every time we've moved (and that has been A LOT), I focus on getting spaces in the house where we can relax. Like the bed....find my coffee pot, etc then I unpack much slower.

yes, I do the set up spaces: so you can sleep, so you can shower and coffee for sure. and since I am already sick of sitting on the floor here, I would guess there I will splurge on something to sit on...bean bag?

but the unpacking one box at a time - you know you NEED one certain thing you can't find (and some moron labelled a box or two with "misc" WTF?) so you rummage through them, desperate, and end up pulling out stuff... after a week of this there are half unpacked boxes everywhere.

and the ONE day I will have before getting there and starting work will be largely taken up by getting my car unloaded, work clothes hung up, dogs settled and Fritz's ongoing wound care.

but I don't mean to complain: I am GLAD to have a job, excited to move into a house with a back yard (privacy!!), and so GRATEFUL Fritz is going to be OK eventually.

Yup, even when camping, my mother used to make up beds first thing. Because it's the LAST thing you feel like doing when you are ready to drop.

I am the Label Queen. I write every little thing down I put in a box. I also mark where the box contents came from (which room) and where it goes in the new place.

This time I'm doing an October 18th-19th Moving Sale, which I'm kinda nervous about. It will be cold weather. But our location requires no advertising, across from two schools, it gets traffic.

Hope Fritz is healing fast. I hear dog spit is a natural healant.

Oh **** packing. I'm totally over moving house for the next ten years. May the force be with you.
