10 days till surgery... 8 days until we leave to go to Utah. I would be lying if I said I'm not scared or anxious and playing the 'what if' complications game in my head. And I have this compulsive obsession like nesting and feeling like I have to clean and organize and get everything done.... And things that never bothered me before are driving me crazy. Did anybody else go through a nesting phase before surgery?

Oh yeah...I think part of it was knowing that cleaning was off the table for a few weeks after and my dh was in no shape to take over (he had his DS 5 weeks before me).

It's crazy! I am NOT a compulsive cleaner...
But I'm making lists to flip mattresses and scrub light fixtures and clean out closets and finish sewing a project. None of things have bothered me in the least for months... Now I'm freaking out that the sky will fall of I don't get it done.

I did the same thing - both at home and at work. Not only actual cleaning but cleaning out my email, old files, etc. and making lists (for myself and others). I think for me it was about control and taking charge of things that I knew I could do instead of focusing on something that was terrifying me (DS).

Make sure to get the obvious stuff done first. The stuff that will need attention like laundry, vacuuming, clean out the fridge and cupboards. Things you won't be able to do when you get home. If you need an angel, you have my cell number. I will report to the board if you would like.

Thank you @newanatomy! That would be awesome if you would be my angel. Would you believe I didn't even think about cleaning out the fridge or grocery shopping until someone just mentioned it? My thinking is not cooperating for important things first.... I mean really.... Light fixtures?? UGH!! And I'm have had a really hard time sticking to the pre-op diet this weekend. I'm doing better today...... Evenings are the worst.

It will probably be my friend, Tony, that will text you when I'm out of surgery. He will have my phone. I'll text you when I'm lucid enough to put 2 words together haha. Thank you so much for offering to post to the board for me.... I was wondering how that works.

Is your surgery the 8th, Amey? Mines the 10th. I am feeling the same way..FEELING, but unfortunately the doing part isn't going so well. I see so much around me that needs doing and I'm feeling tremendously overwhelmed. Think deer in the headlights and you'd have it. I start something and that leads to another chore, then something else and on and on and nothing gets finished like it should. My concentration on anything other than surgery is horrible. Then my husband said, you need to show me how to transfer money into the grandkids account if needed while you're gone (he is in charge of a trust that was set up after both their parents died (since they are all minors). He's the trustee but of course it's me who does it all. So I have to figure out how to best work that, whether to have him try online or do it by phone. Probably won't be needed but better to be safe than sorry. Then I start thinking how he wouldn't know what to do if I wasn't here to pay the bills on a regular basis and maybe I should make a "monthly manual" for him to know what to do. Well you know where a persons mind can go. I will pay all June bills before I go so it shouldn't be a problem. We're having a quiet day, just as I wanted. I'm going to throw some protein on the grill and stock up for several meals. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Tony can text me whenever. You can call or text when you feel up to it. Also, if you have questions/concerns along the way. Don't beat yourself up over the pre-op diet. Just do your very best to comply. Go extremely low carb, that will help shed a few pounds before you go in. Try to just have fun with the process at the hospital. Remember it is a step to the new you!

@Susan in Tennessee my surgery is on the 10th in Salt Lake. But I live in Idaho so my friend and I are driving to Utah after I get off work on the 7th. I have Dr. and hospital class appointments on the 8th and 9th. So really... Monday the 6th is my last day to get anything done at home.

I am doing the deer in the headlights thing too. I have a hundred things to do but here I am posting and watching YouTube surgery videos for the hundredth time. I don't have little kids or a husband at home to worry about cooking for so that's nice. My 18 yr old will probably be at his big brother's most of the time... They only live a half block away.

@newanatomy I will probably text you later today... I have some questions. My daughter in law just got here to help me flip mattresses so I'm going to get my butt in gear. Thank you so much for being here for me!!
