Sounds like crystal light or something to that effect. Here, a cordial is either a cocktail or a yummy chocolate with a cherry and some gooey liquid goodness inside :)
yeah when I try to tell people what "squash" is....I tell them it's like a liquid crystal light lol....its a concentrated flavour that you add to water and has very little nutritional value but tastes yummy lol. Cordial is posh squash lol.

Is your husband thin or thinnish? Mine is and he USED to be a foodnazi. Then when I was more open to him about my struggles and needs, he was more receptive. I also made him watch every fat show and every wls show I could find so he could see that there is a lot more at play that just will power or lack there of. Now he is pretty good and doesn't police me at all. Every once in a while if I ask for something not great for me, he will ask if Im sure..not out of judgement but because he knows how impulsive I am AND how much I beat myself up for not being perfect.

so, kind of like Mio?
Not really. Mio appears to be a drink with a purpose, apart from just relieving your thirst. Cordial, on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities, other than the fact it makes water taste better. It tends to be served at children's parties, because it's cheaper than actual fruit juice. You get various fruit-flavoured cordials to use as fruit juice substitutes, that you mix with water, as well as cola and other flavours.

Yeah, he has a naturally slim build, albeit with a bit of a tummy these days. He's not usually too bad about watching what I eat, unless I go on a diet. I have been very open about my struggles with him (maybe too much so), and I think he understands a little. But he's seen all my failures, so he has a very low expectation that I will succeed. I can't really blame him for that. I also have a very low expectation that I will succeed. After a certain number of failures you stop believing in yourself. I had almost given up trying. The prospect of the DS has given me new hope.

I totally get that. Totally. When I had my sleeve I was told there was an 11% chance I wouldn't lose anything as I was so large and my metabolism soooo slow....so I was super scared I wouldn't lose anything....but I did :)

I think you are going to do AWESOME with the DS :) It should give you hope as it does work if you work it :) I have seen people re-gain with a DS, BUT if you work it, STAY here...don't go away, run into issues and come back..STAY! Being around your own people can work wonders. Find a support group that works for you. I have tried MANY and left with bad tastes in my mouth as most of them are full of "plastics" (mean girls, not surgery lol) but I find it pretty real here...so if you promise to stick around, I promise too :) I think having vets for friends is the best way to ensure we rock the **** out of this!

Do you have WhatsApp? We could chat in the hospital and complain to each other about how much life sucks and pain sucks etc. lol

That's really Mio's purpose too...to make water taste better. Altho NOTHING beats a good cool glass of water.

Parousia... Time to explain to DH that you appreciate his "support" but he's a bit off to think food nazi behavior is helpful. Eating cheese, or a sensible meal after two liquid meals is acceptable for your optifast. You will be on a lot of liquids after surgery, no need to put yourself mental beforehand unnecessarily! I'd explain that the "big picture" is to eat lighter, eat healthier....not starve. So, when you vent to your hubby and say that you're going to have some of his cheese for dinner, he should put his arm around you and say, "you did a great job for drinking 18 hrs today while feeding the kids, me and keeping it together. You are an amazing woman and you are going to do well with this surgery. If you want a little cheese to make it to tomorrow, then have it, you know what's best. I married you for your smarts!" Print this out and give it to him, he obviously needs instructions on support and dealing with women. ;)
