Maybe the carbs that cause the bloating, loose stool, etc., are flushing out the nutrients too. Worth a shot at trying to calm the tract with protein only for a while.

Anything is worth a try but I don't believe carbs are really causing any loose stools, unless I eat a ton of carbs. ....I honestly don't have loose stools that often. My stools are 90% soft formed

you know, I have been thinking this a few days - and it maybe it is to early but wondering if it isn't time for some TPN and give that gut some rest. I would also advocate for the pure protein trial now, instead of waiting till next week. Don't play around with your health - you have been walking a tight rope for a bit and maybe the protein will soothe your new anatomy.

I know you keep saying that carbs have never bothered you, but you have new guts now and maybe they are and you just don't realize it. You feel like hell, and will as you withdraw from the carbs, but in the long run it might help. Just like the DS changes everything, the readjusted DS is likely to change things too.

your a big boy and will do what is best for you, but consider it please. :)

I also come here to see your battle updates, but don't have much to add other than sending good energy. I've only had some minor absorption issues, mainly with D, but have had some success altering with when I take things, and what is already is in my stomach. I only take calcium with food, and I NOW only take D on an empty stomach, or very little in my stomach, and nothing fatty. I will take it AFTER digesting some fat, but long enough it's out of my stomach so as not to bind up my A, D, E or K.

I have several things that I now try to take away from other things, which is a PITA, but I'm pretty sure it's what has helped my lab numbers. I'm glad it's Dr K that is on this, and hope you have answers soon.

Even if your stools aren't loose, aren't you going a bunch of times a day?

I have always gone 3-6 times a day, but I went often before I had the DS.

I take my probiotic first thing in morning then take A, D, e, K, zinc and multi 10 minutes later.. . Then I take 3 calcium 2 hours later then 3 more 2 hours after that. 30 minutes before dinner time I take PPI.. Then with dinner i take the rest. My A is my biggest vitamin concern.. So maybe I should change it up.. Thanks

Yeah, that doesn't seem out of line for a DS'r. I am usually only twice a day but, if I am backed up at all, it can be 6 or more times a day, just small amounts at a time.

Yeah I often have relatively small ones and then on what I call a clean out day, and there is no rhyme or reason why, I will go a few more times and I typically lose 6 pounds or more on that day. It I'd why in the weigh in this week I was 177 and I told Liz next week I will probably be 170-172.

Works similarly for me. I fluctuate about 4 pounds on "clean out days".

Do you feel like hell after that on those days? I feel extremely run down and fatigued, and mine usually happen in the wee hours of the night.

No, I feel great. That is why I think your nutrients are being flushed. It will be interesting to see how you feel on just protein and water. It might take a few days to stop missing the energy from the carbs then maybe, you will start to feel better.
