@kirmy, be glad you are not at my house today. @Charris , why I am not in Glendale today:

Right now, two guys are on the garage roof tearing off 69 years of roofing. They will put on some plywood and move to the house roof later. Meanwhile, the chimney guy just informed me that this fireplace is unsafe to be much more than a decór statement, but he will be back Saturday to secure the chimney to the house. My husband is trolling around the house removing decorative wooden outlet covers that make it impossible to plug anything in. My "project manager," (the gay homophobic handyman) is upgrading our electrical panel, so there is no electricity in the house. The gardeners just cut the lawn and left. The lumber yard will be here to deliver the glulam for a place that needs a beam. There might have been more room for it if we hadn't just had deliveries of roofing shingles and accessories plus enough plywood to cover the house and garage.

Not in Hostess Mode, not in Visiting Mode. (Had to take a shower by battery operated lantern.)

Oh, yeah...today was last day to do 2014 taxes if you filed an extension...which we did...so I squeezed those into the morning activities.

AARRRRGH!!!!!

At least you have a full life even if it's full of crap. Here's hoping to a quick resolution to all that and gaining peace and quiet.

This is why god made motels.

No power? 69 years of asbestos roofing and other toxins in your air? Get outta there, girl. Go somewhere and ponder how can someone be gay and homophobic.

Oh people - do you not understand that it would cause even MORE distress to our Spiky to not be orchestrating and superintending this chaos? You think she's complaining - she's actually BOASTING!

I did liberate a few face mask thingys from the chemo place where I get my iron infusions....hmmm.

Wow, Spiky plus you been over there dealing with a little person 5yo and I haven't seen a bolo report for you? I'm impressed

Oh, yes! I forgot...Monday was a school holiday, so we had MiniSue's boyfriend's daughter, age five, all day...all-all-all the day long...lol. (That's fun, too. Keeps us not-quite-so-old!) and Wednesday was Iron Infusion and Cortisone Injection Day.

Today, they dump and return the first of probably three lowboy construction dumpers (@$800+), plywood gets installed on the garage roof, house roof gets stripped of three layers of roofing, insulation dude does an inspection (attic has blown in insulation over the original knob and tube electrical wiring, which is a fire hazard, so we need to vacuum out the old stuff, redo whatever wiring needs replacement, then install rolled insulation), and this morning I accompany Mr. Sue to his first appointment at the new doctor's. (And we trade roles on Monday for my appointment.)

Meanwhile, there MIGHT BE a bolo, depending on what I do about the elderly Chinese dude (given his age and how slowly he walks, he is most likely a local resident...probably quite secure financially and not a starving homeless person) who does not understand the more subtle aspects of the new culture in which he finds himself residing. He wanders the streets twice a week, going through trash cans looking for recyclables. I don't like people rifling through my trash, so I keep the cans on our driveway...fully 30-40 feet back from the street. He just wanders up our driveway as if he were invited to rifle through the trash cans. No Mandarin/Cantonese speakers on duty last might at the local PD...so we have to try again next week to explain the nuances of property rights.

As @k9ophile said, a full life.

Two layers is all that is ever suppose to be there. We just had ours re-roofed this year. We had them check for layers first...only had one on there so we were safe adding a second one. But whoever has to do the next one will need to strip first. Too much of a load on houses to have more than 2 layers up there.
