Just wondering if anyone has had success or experience with Intramuscular Iron shots?
I saw my iron drop back in November but not enough to have me concerned. After having some kidney problems requiring surgery over Christmas and new year I hit a patch of exhaustion that hasn't shifted so I had my Dr run new labs. Sure enough my ferritin is now 10 points below the lowest reference point.
So far I've had 3 x weekly shots of intramuscular iron polymaltose 100mg which gives me a little energy for a few days and then it's gone. I don't know if it's actually doing anything or placebo. My Dr seems to think it should work where as I'm not quiet so optimistic and I was wondering if anyone else tried this approach before doing larger
IV infusions?
We are repeating the iron panel after this weeks shot and if it hasn't improved I'll have him refer me on.
