since I grew up with landlines I don't think I should have to pay for a phone if I have to pay for "service" it seems like it should be free. I guess I need to join the 21st century.
There are plans you can get free phones with the service. But your options are limited.

Re exercise... myself I find it hard to stick to all the tracking paraphernalia , though I know it helps some

Through the year I ask myself, "did I do anything today".. if not I take a walk

A variant of that is "did I do anything yesterday".. if not definitely take a walk

In the summer it's easier.. the question is "are the winds low enough at high tide to kayak"... if not, take a (fill in the blank)

The simple stuff helps when that first rush of enthusiasm wears off... life's a marathon not a sprint

so far the only place I asked about that was the Cricket store, because they are my current carrier. although I'm told they use AT&T.

 it's all so complex! like a lot of things, I'll hopefully get busy with it after I move and get all organized.

it sure is! or at least, we hope we live long enough that it is.

and tons of simple stuff can help - for example, I remember reading about a study of how much less candy people ate when someone they work with had it out on the desk for everyone, vs had it in a drawer and you had to ask for it.

so inconvenient! I hope you find one you like and at a good price.

my phone has been running on fumes for years now but I do not want to shop and decide which one to get next.

It was so bad timing....and it happened after the phone update and I was maxed out. I convinced them to take $500 off...so lets see how they follow through. Hopefully I will be running up in no time. Its sad how we depend on such things to help us stay organized.

Fwiiw..

you can get a pay as you go phone plan from ultra mobile for $3 / month.. it uses the T-Mobile 4g network.. comes with 100 min of talk and 100 texts per month . The sim costs $13 on ebay

For a phone, you can get a 128 gb android 12 Google pixel 3 ( used unlocked) for ~$100 from back Market

It is possible to get a decent smartphone and 4g plan without spending too much. If nothing else, it makes for a decent inexpensive backup.

Re "pancreatic atrophy(no idea what that is)"

Fwiiw... I had no idea either. Googling "pancreatic atrophy" gives several results ranging from

It just happens to the aged and obese to cancer or necessity for insulin

I'd ask whoever gave the diagnosis exactly what, if anything, should be done to mitigate the problem

that was radiology, this is going to be evaluated by a gastroenterologist.

RE: pancreatic atrophy, FWIW, my challenges with maintaining selenium levels likely are tied to pancreatic issues. I had a distal pancreatectomy and the rest of my pancreas has yet to forgive me.

Oh no...Im so sorry. I hope you get some relief soon. I checked my selenium last year and it was okay. I never have any pains due to my pancreatic issues. Maybe I do and dont know it as I have multiple other pains.
