actually not done negotiating the wage for my new job but I am confident enough I just emailed my current boss with the 2 weeks notice.:email:
my negotiations are actually a bluff, because if they insist on the lower wage they originally planned to offer, I will accept it.

now I have to make sure not to hurt my back or have a stroke before I'm out of there!
:cheer:

I am SO glad you are getting out of there. But don't be surprised if they terminate you as soon as they get your notice. Not moral of them but many companies do it anyway.

I’m so glad! Is new job in same general area?

not at this job, it's more the opposite, my boss immediately asked if I could stay on PRN and help "around Christmas" - the answer was maybe, but that I would not work on the 24th or the 25th because unless you are full time there is no holiday pay. and even for FT people only Christmas Day and Thanksgiving, all other holidays therapists get regular pay. :angry3:

yes, I currently do therapy in a nursing home and now I'll be doing Home Health. I'd rather have a "work place" than spend half my day driving my car, but this job has been too horrible.

thanks for the congrats, everyone, :thhippy:

Oh happy day! Sending you all the best wishes in your new endeavor.

(About taking less money, there is no price for sanity. I had a job that paid $50,000 and took a job that paid $26,000. Yes, I have a husband and his income made that possible without too much of a drastic change. In fact, just about every job change I made initially involved taking less money. That was the most drastic [maybe two to three thousand less for the others], yet I wouldn't change a thing.)

L.A. wages and cost of living are huge, so I won't mention them...but MiniSue took a $15k cut for a job change...to a job with a huge benefit package and defined retirement. But it was a short career ladder...three steps and at three years, she was already on Step 2 and had recouped the pay difference from the former job. She just took kind of a DEmotion...it won't mean a pay cut, but the "top step" at this job pays less than the "top step" at the job she left. BUT, after a year or two, she can promote up THAT career ladder, which has more steps and the pay goes much higher than what she was making. And...AND... She is back to Mon-Fri, w/weekends and holidays off.

So, JackieOnLine it's not ALWAYS that the best job has the highest pay. Will yòu be able to deduct auto expenses and all? Or will they just reimburse?

thank you! :)

I'm embarrassed to say I am a little fuzzy on the details. in fact, I got my offer letter and a pack of stuff, much of which needs to be filled out  and I don't even know what rate I'm going to be paid for "office time" which includes meetings, and all the training. so I will have to live on it the first month and don't even know what it is. at least I have built up a little cushion - no longer flat broke.

anyway, the visit rate is OK and I get some for mileage and a gas allowance and a phone allowance. honestly not sure what I will be making net compared to the current job.

but I will make it work! :p
