I don't hate you but I want to visit you, not now that it's Spring but some rainy winter.

I'm with Liz in that I don't think I could handle the cost of living, but even more so the population. just too many people for me, I suspect.

still - if you need someone to rent your Pool House I would suck it up and give it a try. because everyone in California has a Pool House, right? oh, and the letting people live with you always goes well...

Medford 5 day forecast - could be better, could be a lot worse!!

ETA: what The The Rogue Valley is, basically, is a compromise between the sun of SoCal and the lack of it in the real Pacific North West. with a smalltown rural/redneck flavor......

The next time we go to Portland, we might have to drive and stop by for a visit Jackie.

To me, the crowdedness of this area is comfortable - it's not like living in a city like SF or NYC or DC, and traffic is bad but not LA horrible (plus. I work at home so I don't care most of the time). It generally means there are multiple choices for things, and they are conveniently available within a reasonable distance. I go to the mall during off-hours, because I can, and at Xmas, we drop each other off and pick up, because we're just a mile away, so we don't have to park.

Plus, 3 of our 4 kids and my dad live here.

Okay, high today was 81! Absolutely PERFECT day. Now it's back down to 69, the humidity was less than 30 all day long.

I don't like crowded areas...but want to be within a decent drive of most things I need. Yes, it's 20 mins down to Costco and the closest mall. But my PCP is within walking distance if I HAD to walk (about 3 1/2 miles) and there is a hospital within 10 mins over near the interstate. And there is a IGA just down the hill. I can walk to our downtown. Our local theater shows one movie a week, one showing each day when it's open. The other times, it's also the Little Theater and shows specialty films. We are actually inside the city limits in a town with 1646 people as of 2010. The entire county has less than 21,000.

It's perfect for us.

I would love to have an RV and just drive around the country visiting everyone's perfect locales! They all sound lovely (except where it was -50 degrees this winter!).

It is going to rain again tonight - that is actually a good thing, of course, since we're in a drought. I'm preparing our outside areas for a spring and summer of outdoor entertaining - killing the weeds that popped up almost overnight in areas that it should be impossible for things to grow, doing some decorating and planting of a potted garden (herbs, tomatoes and yellow squash - just experimenting - and a dwarf lime tree), replacing old outdoor furniture, creating shaded areas so we don't cook our guests outside (a gazebo and a big umbrella, replacing the hot tub (I guess 15 years is a lifetime for a tub). and a new grill.

I'm hoping "attitude follows action" - we had "house guests" from April until September last year, and after they all left, we retreated into solitude for a while - it's time to get sociable again! A friend is visiting next weekend, so that's good motivation to get things cleaned up, put together and looking forward to the coming nice weather.

It is pretty strange here too - we are having company this weekend, and I'm contemplating whether I should spend the money to heat the pool! (probably not)
