So I got the absolute best letter in the mail today. BCBS decided to overturn their denial of my hospital stay. Dr. Greenbaum and Virtua Hospital appealed on my behalf and BCBS has decided to pay! I was self pay for my revision from sleeve to DS, and the 5 day post-op hospital stay was the most expensive part of my surgery. It cost me 19k. I was so surprised because BCBS made sure that I understood that if I had this surgery that they would pay for nothing associated with it. So now I am hoping that this means that they are going to pay for the surgery as well. Why would they pay for the hospital stay but not the procedure itself? Even if they don't I am beyond thrilled.
