The weather outside is frightful....

All the little old ladies in the city (I'm in Texas) had their big minks on at the hospital yesterday. They are so funny. Any time it falls under 50 degrees or so, out those gigantic, full length furs come. We went from something like 65 to a 17 degree windchill overnight. Hope the rest of you with the real cold to contend with are faring ok.

They have to justify having them at SOME point, LOL
Stay warm!

It was negative 14 yesterday. Today it's supposed to be a little warmer. Schools are closed again today but government offices are open. Some interstates are still closed.

Hovering close to zero here this morning, with a fair wind, so wind chills are pretty intense. Feels like Montana! :-D

I'm more bothered by the temperature swings. It was in the 50's not 48 hours ago and it's headed that way again, only to drop like a rock right after that.

My rancher BIL would immediately hop in (if he used the Internet) to tell the story of the time he was out feeding cattle on an incredibly balmy January day, with temps in the 50's and the sky as clear as a bell. Suddenly a wall of ice cold WIND roared down the valley, like 30+ MPH. Shortly thereafter the heavens went dark with the onset of the next blizzard. Temps fell to -20 degrees or colder in well under an hour. He later calculated a difference of between 70 and 80 degrees total in the onset of that storm, all in the course of minutes, not hours.

We are -15 this am! Ended up with about 16-18 inches of white stuff. I am east of St Louis, everything is still shut down this am, we are being asked to stay home, thank goodness I work from home! I will try to upload pic from yesterday. That was before it ended, pretty but damn cold

It got down to about 0 degrees last night in Cookeville, TN. Cooooold. And I don't have central heat! Kept that space heater going all night.

I think you guys all suck!! Yesterday it was -26 here with a -61 wind chill. School was cancelled for the first time EVER in my lifetime for cold. They described it as "deadly wind chills". Today we are having a heat wave. It is 1 degree with 0 degree wing chill. Yeah, baby! ;) Back to -20 tonight, tho, and hubby works outside in this crap for 13 hours a day. Boo.
