Surgery Tomorrow

They told us be in the lobby at 9:30 am. They also let me have a light lunch. I wasn't expecting the light lunch but I did take advantage of it!

I'm glad you took advantage of the light lunch. I was also given that opportunity but since I'd been traveling from 2am on, I promptly fell asleep when I got to my room. DOH! lol

I hope you're feeling pretty good - you will feel better tomorrow for sure. I'm thinking of you and wishing you all the best!

Did Jim have an angel? Hoping it went well and he is resting comfortably.

Good morning,
This is Beth, Jim's wife. I'm so sorry about the delay in posting. Jim's surgery went well. It took about 6 hours and then another three in recovery due to nausea, so it was pretty late when he finally was returned to his room. He has already been up and walking around a couple times since then, and trying to deal with the seemingly non-stop of hiccups ☺️
Will post more tomorrow (wait....it is tomorrow already)! Lol!

EXCELLENT news Beth! thank you for letting us know. I know you have to be exhausted and worried about your man - know that this step is the first on his road to recovery. Both your life's will change for the better! thank you for letting us know how he is doing. Tell him we are all rooting for him.

Good to know it all went well and he is on the mend! Please tell him I am thinking of him... and that they are pretty heavy handed with the amnesiacs so he won't remember his nausea in the recovery room. (I don't remember going in to surgery nor the recovery room at all.) Keep us posted.

Thank you for the good news Beth. Hopefully you are getting some rest. Sometimes we forget how rough all of this on our spouse who has to sit around and anxiously wait for their loved one to get out of surgery and to hear from the Doc that things went well. Take care of yourself because taking care of a recovering patient who is tired, sore, nauseous at times and maybe even a tad grumpy on occasion :D is hard work.

Please tell Jim welcome to the dark side and to sip, walk, rest and repeat.

Thanks again for the update.

Thanks for the update, Beth...tell Jim we were all pulling for him. Now he is to sip, walk, rest, rinse, repeat. Hiccups are annoying but I suspect his vagus nerve was tickled during surgery and that may account for the hiccups. They will go away.

Oh, and Beth, don't be a stranger...you can join us on your own and learn all about being a support person for your spouse. I am one half of a DS couple...so I have some clue how it works to be the support on this journey.

Hello everyone, so far have needed very little morphine, I have felt very good actually except for the hiccups but the Dr said that I would have them to get ride of the gas. I was up twice last night for a walk. The pain feels like I got a shoulder pad in the guts, not much different from my HS days. I have to go 36 hrs before I can have water so until then I am getting my I V. I will keep you up to speed.
