If you have black feces, let it sit in the toilet, then move it around. If the water turns dark red, it's blood. Greenish black is from iron or can be from food sources such as green/blue dye (Fruit Roll-ups make kids poop dark green). Dark black poop from blood is from bleeding high up in the body. Fresh red blood in poop is from closer to the anus, like hemorrhoids or fissures.

If it happens again, save a sample for analysis just to be safe. And your next physical should include a fecal blood check.

Was deffo greenish black with no tinges of red or pink. Was just sooooo black and loose!!

But I'm alive and now after the fact I feel like an attention seeking hypochondriac lol oh well better safe than sorry! Lesson learned!

Today I text with the bariatric nurse and she said she would bet money it was the iron. So unless it happens again, I'm going to stop thinking my ds is still trying to kill me.

My doctor mentioned she regularly has people bring in pictures of their poop when they are concerned if something is abnormal.

If this happens again, make it a Kodak moment.

that's a good idea, take a photo. I was going to say save a sample - gross but worth the peace of mind.
