What Are The Differences Between SADI and DS?

Help Support Bariatric & Weight Loss Surgery Forum:

"The SADI-S has fewer intestinal connections, which reduces operative time and may reduce the likelihood of leak or intestinal blockage. Additionally, because there is no division of the bowel, there are no potential spaces in the supporting tissues, called mesentery. These so-called mesenteric defects could be a site for intestine to become entrapped and cause a bowel obstruction; this is called an internal hernia. The SADI-S avoids this problem."

- The SADI has ONE less anastomosis
- "there is no division of the bowel"?? Uh, yes there is - the duodenum is divided - does she not think the duodenum is bowel?
- "no potential spaces in the .. mesentery"?? WTF? Of course the mesentery is cut, and not only that, the "spaces" that form after weight loss can come from fat loss causing empty spaces called Peterson's spaces, from where the fat has disappeared and a loop of intestine can become entrapped.

This article is FALSELY MISLEADING.
