We're doing OK here. We are one of the blessed ones with AC. My husband doesn't tolerate heat so when we built this new place there was no question we'd have it.

I believe the record in WA was previously 118 over near Walla Walla, and I don't think we beat that record. I believe it hit 108 here where I live which is hideous. It was definitely a record breaking event for sure. I like to point people to the Cliff Mass blog as he explains everything that happened so well.

That is a great explanation!

I think it was 117 in The Dalles yesterday. the heat is miserable but the worry was and is brutal. worry about a power outage or, worse, a wildfire.

but 90s today felt like a huge relief so it's all relative!

I learned for the first time that about half of people being so affected in the NW don’t have a/c. I never knew that.

Glad the temps are moderating.

It’s the same for New England and the upper Atlantic states. Central A/C is uncommon in most houses older than 1980 in western PA and WV and Ohio.

What about units? I have wall units in my apt. Haven’t had central since I lived in a house.

They’re buying units as fast as the can. We were at Lowe’s today and about half the people had a unit on their cart.

It was over 90 here the last three days, which is hot but not ungodly hot. But it’s a bit more humid here. Nothing, this raised in the south gal, can’t handle. They’ve been saying that this area averages 10 days a summer over 90. We can handle that. Only got to 86 by 10, then thunder clouds rolled in and it poured buckets. Now it’s a pleasant 73 and suppose to stay that way til after the 4th. Not the rain, just the temps.
