Hello everyone! I've been reading a lot of posts on this site & have found TONS of helpful info!
*Sorry for the long post*
A little about my weight loss journey.... For years, I spent a lot of money & time on diet pills, weight loss programs, gym memberships, & other methods to lose weight but nothing worked. I had several coworkers that decided to get the VSG & they had great results, so I jumped on the bandwagon & had it as well (Dr. Dietrick, Tampa, FL.... Sept 2015). I was taking meds for high blood pressure already & I also had sleep apnea. At my pre-op appt I learned I had diabetes. The surgeon told me it would go away after my VSG. It didn't! I also developed high cholesterol, GERD, & the worst smelling gas EVER!!! None of my comorbidities went away after surgery. I've only lost 46lbs since I had the surgery! Yes, I followed everything according to the diet plan but the weight loss just stopped. No matter how many times I did the pouch reset or did all liquids for several weeks, the scale wouldn't move. I was determined to make the sleeve work for me, but it didn't.
I found another surgeon here (Dr. Foreman... Huntsville, Alabama) that will do a revision. Last week I got the approval for a revision to RNY, however, after reading so many success stories on this site about the DS surgery I think I've had a change of heart. I'm terrified of the possible complications from the DS in general, but I think it's the best option for me to "cure" me of my ailments & help me maintain a normal weight long term. I'm going to speak with the surgeon next week to get his input on the DS & see if my insurance will approve the surgery.
I think all my questions about the revision to DS have been answered from reading thru this site, but I do have one that is very important..... Does anyone regret doing a revision from VSG to DS? I welcome any & all info regarding this procedure.
Thanks!
VSG pre-op weight: 279, day of surgery: 266, current weight: 220....
