Last Thursday, I got my 17 vial and one pee cup semi-annual labs drawn. First poke clunked out before I could get enough for testing. On to the other arm where two draws had to be performed. Then as I was halfway down the hall and headed towards the exit, I got called back for four more vials. It hasn't been unusual for one vein to poop out requiring a draw on the other arm. This four pokes is unusual. (Also, the well experienced and skill lab tech wasn't there. Le sigh.)

My doc has suggested annual labs instead of semi-annually. I am seriously considering it.

The phlebotomist here in Singapore I see is amazing. She can get it all from one vein, and hits it first time. I love her. Last time they left something off the order, so when I went back she took a few extra vials 'just in case'. She also gave me by Vit D injection last week - I said yep, this time you're giving, not taking!

The woman I saw in California, however, was not so good. Had to try both arms and *** around just to get two vials. Ouch!

I think your 17 vials must be some kind of record, though!

Last time I went to Quest in Cookeville my first stick did great, for many vials then well ran dry. She did other arm and we squeaked out enough, barely. I think she was more freaked out over the huge number of vials than I was and I'm pretty sure it was higher than 17!

Good for you for going and getting your blood work like a good DSer!

There were 30 tests ordered. I'm very grateful that each test did not require a vial for each test. The majority of them are for my DS. My doc graciously orders the others with them to save me trips to the lab.
